Spier Wines at a glance...

Established in 1692, Spier is one of South Africa’s most historic wine farms – with a long, proud legacy. Today, our farm represents a modern, conscious energy. Focused on art and healthy living, Spier is about farm-to-table food and award-winning wines; and people sharing ideas for living, working and growing in forward-thinking ways.

Going since 1692, Spier is one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms, with a fascinating history and a legacy that the owners never take for granted. Today the farm has a modern, conscious energy. Focused on art and good farming, Spier is about farm-to-table food and accoladed wines. Its people are committed to living and working in ways that bring positive change to our environment and community.

Spier is a WWF Conservation Champion, is organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria. In 2011, Condé Nast Traveler World Saver Award recognised Spier as the top international destination ‘Doing it All’. We have been recognised by other external organisations including Fair Trade in Tourism (FTTSA) and the Wine Industry Ethical Trade Association (WIETA). The cellar has ISO 22000 certification and is Fair Trade accredited.

Award-winning wine paired with innovative food is what you’ll find at our tasting room on the banks of the Spier dam. Relax in the airy lounge area, and enjoy stunning views of the Helderberg mountains, or take your glass outside onto the sunny patio and gaze across the rolling lawns.

For wine tasting, settle in at the parquet tables and admire the iconic Heath Nash chandelier — made from 334 recycled Spier wine bottles and weighing 370kgs — which hangs above the tasting counter.

You can either enjoy a set wine tasting, with or without a food pairing, or order whatever you like with an olive, cheese or cured meat board.

Open for tastings from Monday – Saturday 9:00 – 17:00 and from 11:00 – 18:00 on Sundays.
