FILTERS Wine Estate: Year:

Tasting Notes:

Intense ruby-coloured wine with pronounced aromas of dark chocolate, black cherries, toasted hazelnuts and an unusual herbal edge. The aromas give way to elegant flavours of black fruits (cherries, blackberries and ripe plums) matched with rich and savoury notes of black olives, liquorice and spicy tannins (cloves and cinnamon sticks). A richly layered wine with plenty of backbone and structure – should be enjoyed now with a fine steak or a salty, matured Cheddar – or keep it safe for a further five years to drink it at its very best.

Muratie Wine Estate at a glance...

Tucked into the exquisite Knorhoek Valley north of Stellenbosch is the Muratie Wine Estate. Just as the history of Muratie dates back centuries. It’s no wonder Muratie considers their staff to be family.

Muratie’s rich history is captured in every nook and cranny of the estate and in every bottle of wine produced.

The farm itself was established in 1685, making it one of the oldest estates in South Africa. The Melck family has revived this rich heritage in an updated and yet classical evolution of the brand, naming its range after many of these colourful characters.

Not only has the label changed, the wine itself has undergone improvements in quality under the creative hand o winemaker Francois Conradi and his team. This has seen Muratie become a respected player in the Bordeaux blend, Shriaz, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir stakes.

Muratie is famed for being the first producer of Pinor Noir.
