Bikes ‘n Wines aim is to speak to the adventurous individual seeking a more authentic South African touring experience.
Bikes n Wines tours provide you with the opportunity to visit the Winelands by spending the day cycling through the vineyards and along private farm roads, dipping your feet in rivers and dams along the way and learning about this historically diverse area by experiencing its richness.
Mind your business: Through our use of public transport and bicycles, as well as other recycling initiatives, Bikes ‘n Wines alleviates its carbon footprint; absorbing all of the environment’s beauty without releasing harmful pollutants into it. Set a good example for your office and kickstart some green thinking by associating with businesses involved in environmentally aware practices.
Bikes ‘n Wines is a new concept in Winelands’ tourism and a South African first, combining both mountain biking and exclusive wine tastings. The tours are targeted at young-hearted and outdoor-loving people who would like to experience a wine tour from a different and authentic viewpoint. Up to four first-class Stellenbosch wine estates, situated 50 km outside of Cape Town, are visited during the day, accessed by private farm roads that take riders through vineyards and quiet tree-lined roads, with dazzling vistas along the way.

We at Bikes ‘n Wines strive to have as little an impact on the environment as possible and have a few strategies in place to rectify any impact that we do have.

We offer tours that cater to all fitness levels, and have had all ages on our tours. From the relaxed paced vineyard meander to our adventure ride, we have something that caters to the more casual rider to mountain biker enthusiast!

The tour routes have been carefully designed by the Bikes and Wines team, who personally tests out the routes ensuring you, have the best experience of the winelands possible.
Bikes and Wines has introduced several new trips to our itinerary offering you a wider selection. You do not have to take out your wallet to pay for wine tastings, and your bike and helmet rental for the day – that’s covered by us as well.
Personalised support throughout the tour
Our guides are with you throughout the tour; from the train ride to your final wine tasting of the day. We believe that a good guide is the key to truly experiencing the best of what the Cape Winelands has to offer.
Q: Are we always accompanied by a guide?
A: Yes, from the time you meet at Cape Town Tourism Info Center in the Cape Town CBD or The Tourism Information Center, Stellenbosch until the end of the tour, a guide will be with you all the time.
Q: What should I bring?
A: Bring yourself, friends, comfortable shoes, a swimming costume and towel, sun block, a warm top/windbreaker, a camera and money for lunch & any wines you wish to purchase along the way.
Q: What happens in the case of bad weather?
A: The guide will make a call on the morning of the trip. Often the weather in Winelands is different to the weather in Cape Town. Should the trip be cancelled, you have the option of scheduling for another date (subject to availability) or a refund.
Q: Can we buy wines from the farms?
A: Most definitely, you can buy a wide selection of excellent wines at fantastic prices.
Q: How much money should I bring with on the day?
A: We recommend you bring along some money for lunch, beverages at lunch and wine from the wine farms you will visit.
Q: Will I get too drunk to ride my bike?
A: No will you should not get too inebriated to ride, as you are exercising you metabolize the alcohol faster than you normally would.
Guests on Bikes ‘n Wines will be accompanied by our friendly and capable guides from beginning to end who will be happy to assist in any way to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.
Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of the deposit amount.
Final settlement of the services is required no later than 48hrs prior to the commencement
date of the itinerary.
Bikes ‘n Wines shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, additional cost, accident, delay, irregularity that may be occasioned by any error or default, act or omission by the client in carrying out the arrangements of the Tour, or otherwise in connection therewith.
In the case of bad weather (this is to be decided by either the guide or an official Bikes ‘n Wines representative on the day of tour), tours will be rescheduled or the client will be refunded.
